Privacy Policy
Last updated September 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Ganéwa ("Ganéwa", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, mobile-optimized web app, and related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways:
- Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and phone number.
- Location and network data. With your permission, we collect approximate location data and network signal readings (network name, signal strength, measured throughput) from your device. This is the core of how Ganéwa builds an area's network-quality picture — it is never shown to other users at a precision finer than the general area you're in.
- Transaction information. When you buy a data plan or fund your wallet, we collect the mobile number the data is sent to, the plan purchased, the amount, and payment metadata from our payment processor (we do not store your full card or bank details ourselves).
- Device and usage information. We collect standard technical information — device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and how you interact with the Service — to keep it working and to improve it.
- Cookies and similar technologies. Our marketing website uses local storage to remember a visitor identifier so that a completed signup can be attributed to the visit that led to it. This identifier is not linked to your identity unless and until you create an account.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including fulfilling data purchases;
- Build and improve the crowd-sourced network-quality picture for your area and others';
- Recommend data plans that fit your usage and budget;
- Process payments and maintain accurate wallet and transaction records;
- Communicate with you about your account, transactions, and — where you haven't opted out — product updates;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
- Comply with our legal obligations.
3. How we share your information
We share information only where necessary to run the Service:
- Data and airtime vendors. To deliver a data purchase, we share the recipient mobile number, network, and plan with the vendor fulfilling that specific purchase.
- Payment processors. Wallet funding is handled by licensed payment processors, who receive the information needed to process your payment directly.
- Service providers. We use third-party providers for things like transactional email and infrastructure hosting, bound by contracts that limit their use of your information to providing that service to us.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ganéwa, our users, or the public.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Your location and network contributions
Network-quality readings you contribute are aggregated with other users' readings to compute area-level rankings. Other users only ever see this aggregated picture — never your individual readings, your exact location, or your identity. You can stop contributing readings at any time by disabling location access for the Service in your device settings.
5. Data retention
We keep account and transaction information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, and fraud-prevention obligations. Network-quality readings are retained in aggregated form to keep the area-level picture accurate over time.
6. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to request a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
7. Data security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by updating the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through the Service directly.
10. Contact us
